What most don't know is that the original song was written and performed by Camille Yarbrough, a black rights activists. Her lyrics "We've come a long long way together, through the hard times and the good. I have to celebrate you baby, I have to praise you like I should" were based on how far the black community had come in their fight against racism and she wanted to give them praise. Fatboy Slim took her song Take Yo' Praise and sampled it creating the worldwide success "Praise You." |
